Types Of Braces

Are you looking for braces in Alhambra, Phoenix, or Scottsdale? Allow us to help. We offer you several different types of braces and braces alternatives, making it easy to find a treatment option that is effective at straightening your teeth and also offers the features you want. Whether you want traditional braces, Invisalign, or something less common, such as lingual braces or ceramic braces, we have it all. Read below to learn more about your options at Blue Orthodontics.

Traditional Metal Braces

metal braces

This is the most common type of braces used and more or less what people picture in their minds when thinking about braces. However, modern versions are much improved over those of the past. We use high-grade stainless steel that offers a sleeker look than what you might remember from the past. While they are visible, which can be a problem for some, they are also fun, allowing you to choose special brackets and colored elastics to express yourself.

Self-Ligating Braces

self-ligating braces

These braces are essentially a twist on traditional metal braces. While they are metal, and therefore are visible, they eliminate the need to elastics, which makes them less visible than the traditional option. This eliminates the fun aspects of traditional braces, but is good for those in professional environments and teens who want to minimize the appearance of their braces. These braces work quickly, cause less friction, and need fewer appointments.

Ceramic Braces

clear braces

Ceramic braces are an option with self-ligating braces. They use clear or tooth-colored ceramic for brackets, allowing them to blend in with the teeth, leaving only the wire highly visible. These brackets are more difficult to take care of as they can stain and break more easily. As such, we use them only with older teen and adult patients. We also only use them on the upper teeth.

Invisalign

For some people, braces just are not a good option. In addition to the look of them, some patients dislike having to change their diet and alter how they brush and floss their teeth. Invisalign makes all of these aspects non-issues. The aligners are invisible when worn and you can remove them to eat, drink, brush, and floss. For effective and convenient treatment, nothing beats Invisalign.

Lingual Braces

lingual braces

Lingual braces are placed on the tongue side—or lingual side—of the teeth. This makes them invisible to those around you. These braces are designed specifically for you, which makes them highly effective, though more expensive. We like to use these braces with patients who are either worried about the look of braces or who need their braces out of the way for sports or playing instruments.

Everyone there knows what they are doing, educates you as a patient and parent. My daughter wrote them a note, put in the mail and they wrote her back a nice note! It’s those little things that matter and make you feel a part of a family. Thank you Blue!
